to start flashing, VPP (programming) voltage must be applied to the chip. this is done by uploading a short executable program to the ecm.
the preflash test doesn't do that, though.
im not sure what the problem is, you likely aren't doing anything wrong, although there could be something wrong with your ecm?
i'd say try again, but i hope nothing sketchy is going on, i don't want you to brick your ecm.
weird thing is, it's supposed to display an error byte (the response from the ecm), but it's not doing that. i'll have to look into that part of the code.
Thank you for your reply. I've tried it about 8-10 times, all with the same error. Pre flash test always passes and I was able to download the current bin.
If if you have any ideas, please do let me know!
Thanks again!
Really hoping to be able to get to the bottom of this soon...planning to take my sons to their first car show Saturday!! Thanks for your help, guys!
this is important, you can reproduce the problem. please go into the 'debug' window, check 'verbose', then perform the flash operation. afterwards, open the debug window again, and copy/paste the entire contents into a text file. then email it to me. my email address is in the 'about' screen of eehack (to avoid spam)
Excellent! I sent you a private message because I don't see your email address listed on your about me page. If you want me to send it to you some other way, please let me know! Thank you!
running verbose MIGHT have slowed serial operations down slightly. i wonder if my timing is too tight for whatever you're running. if you are using an FTDI serial interface i highly reccommend lowering your serial latency http://fbodytech.com/ftdi-serial-lat...readed-eehack/ (moates also reccommends this for their ftdi based interfaces, fyi)Quote:

The ONLY thing I did differently is I had a trickle charger on the battery because I didn't want the battery to get too low. Would that have made a difference in some way?
So thankful for your help!
