$OE filter parameter question

Quick question guys, under Flags and under 4l80e Parameter there are like 5 flags. They say, Filter 4wd Low input, Filter cruise control input, Filter A/C input, Filter Shifter pattern input and Filter range shifter input. What are these parameters? Like what does "filter" mean in those parameters. I know they are for the inputs to the ECM.

Also I know the cruise control has separate shift tables. Has anybody used the shift tables as like a performance or tow and haul shift table? it seems pretty simple as you would just need to wire a switch to ground and input it to the cruise control input on the ECM and the ECM willuse the cruise control shift tables. Do i sound correct in saying this?
