T56 reverse lockout options with TBI PCM

So I've been running a T56 behind my TBI 360-incher for about 5 years now and I love it. I have never hooked up the reverse lockout. One way I've been considering hooking it up is to a toggle switch, which would work. However, if it is possible to replicate what the factory did, I'd like to do that. My understanding is this: on a T56 equipped vehicle, the PCM would lockout reverse based upon a certain VSS. Can the TBI PCM be made to do something like this, without a ton of hassle??
