o2 Harness extensions
If I use quality appropriate sized wiring and use best practice in splicing and heat protection, will this be good to extend the o2 wiring for the long tube header application? Or, should I buy the pre-made extension harnesses? I see them ranging in price. Are the cheaper ones to be avoided? If buying the harness extensions, which ones would you recommend?
Thanks

Extending the original O2 wiring using a soldered wire splicing method is a good plan. Factory O2 wiring is TXL 18 AWG wire. https://www.crimpzone.com/txl-wire-specification/ The metric equivalent of 18 AWG is 0.75 mm2: https://www.lapptannehill.com/resour...nversion-chart
The factory uses Nylon split loom max temp 300 F. Auto parts stores sell Polypropylene split loom, max temp 200 F.:mad1:
I prefer adhesive lined heat shrink tubing to cover solder spliced wire: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-...94857497&rt=r3
It's likely you will get what you pay for with pre-made O2 extensions. Maybe the extension is made to factory spec?

Thanks for that info Dave. I’ll make extensions. Got plenty of qualifying wiring since we had the whole car that this LT1 came from. We have a big box full of all the wiring and related stuff from stripping the car down.
