Pretty sure I mentioned I'd rebuilt the TBI unit. I may be mistaken. At any rate, I agree with you, and have done it.

Pretty sure I mentioned I'd rebuilt the TBI unit. I may be mistaken. At any rate, I agree with you, and have done it.

Well, I apparently had replaced the grounds in the past, with 10GA to each head, to a stud on the passenger fenderwell used as a ground terminal (yes, very hack, I agree, but all I had at the time)....
I hear you. I am not backfiring through the intake, but the exhaust. This seems to me that it is caused by excess fuel in the exhaust , which gets hot and occasionally explodes.
I think I was a bit confused, honestly.
As it happens, you have given me a lot of ideas. I didn't have my idea straight (don't actually have the RPI in hand yet, it arrives Sunday). It has onboard...
I have already built a cable, and see no reason to spend $80 for a damn cable. That is frankly, ludicrous.
However you do bring a good point- if there is a way to do this with a cable that will...
Folks-
I am going to build a Android tablet (or possibly Raspberry Pi) to mount in my dash to, among other things, use ADLDroid to capture data. I have a Windows laptop, can and have used it to...
Are you referring to my problem, it's not clear given the quote above your post.
I haven't been able to install the new grounds yet (owing to work and weather), but I have fabricated a few of...
Seems I misremembered- I had this problem long ago and never addressed it fully, it's just gotten worse:...
Good thoughts, thanks for them...
I just checked for engine codes with the old "paperclip on ALDL A and B terms" trick. Nothing noted- just 12 over and over.
I am going to go ahead and...
Folks-
I am having a stumbling problem with my 1989 Chevy S10, which I have retrofitted a 350 smallblock into.
I more or less followed the JTR book in doing this. Temperature control hasn't...
Handyman, I've considered an ECM-PCM upgrade as well. It definitely does require repinning the connectors (and of course a change to different types of connectors). That's easy enough to do, but the...
I'm going to watch this thread closely, as I am in the same boat. Thanks for starting this!
I think a good first step might be to disconnect power to the ECM (disconnect battery entirely) and let the ECU clear, then see what happens when you reconnect. This would clear out the stored learn...
Great project, how's it coming?
Have there been any developments with this build?
Any news on this build? :)
As crazy as it sounds, it's not built as a wheeling rig. It was done to make it more durable and easier to service, partly (the SAS part). Then when the 4.3 went, I couldn't swing a rebuilt 4.3 and...
Sounds like a cool project. What motor are you planning on putting the TBI system on?It would help to know displacement and the present fuel distribution schema.
Off the top of my head, since you...
Thanks, 1Project.
The MAP is fed from the TBI unit, so yes indeedy, is in the intake tract.
I am running the stock TBI unit for now, with an aftermarket K&N Filter. I am at some point going to...
I already have a 1-wire O2, in the downpipe where they all come together, stock location for the 4.3L V6 I sourced the y-pipe from (had to mod it to fit the V8).
I also have an available port at...
Tom-
Again, many thanks.
I swear, you are a font of information. I need to know half of what you've forgotten. :)
I've come to the conclusion that most of my sensors are of questionable age...
Please forgive my ignorance, but can you boil that down for me?
This is a naturally-aspirated engine. I seem to be seeing positive pressure in the crankcase. Should I be freaking out?
Engine...
Folks-
I am seeing an occasional negative integer in my datalog under the Vacuum field.
It seems to me that the 17 I am seeing in that field at idle indicates 17 pounds of vacuum. IE, the...
Good thread, I was able to xref that part number to OEM applications and now I can get a heated O2 sensor much less expensively, to use on my driver's side manifold for tu ning... another box to...
drawing from memory here, but I believe the 8062 series ECMs have a similar pinout- my 4.3L V6-factory-powered 89 S10 Blazer ran that ECM in stock trim. When I installed the 5.7 TBI motor out of an...
