by acciedent if you can get the timming under 0 degrezz it will pop and crack i think,tunning in the drive way deceleration my did and its stock 4.3 with a boat cam and stock exhast sys.

that's the way my 91 is works good with a gps to calibrate the switch.
fuel filter may be getting dirty,i had a pump go out going down the road bml's went up in the red in tuner pro, it still run luckly and got back to the shop 6-8 lbs pressure.
try removing the ecm,some of them would lose connection [intemitenatly] between the ecm plug clean it a little.have you got data log?
if it don't have a 3 wire o2 sensor install one ,my 4.3 would go open loop at 30mph in 5th 3 wire sensor fixed it.if it has a 3 wire check for exhaust leak if engine's not been modified. or as...
that is about how mine worked, before I put the 3 wire in truck would go open loop at 30 mph in 5th gear in the winter time.

usually the check engine light will appear with the timming advance wire disconnected
it maybe picking up knocks when it first starts from the cold temp spark adder if the file you are running has that scaler in it
I remember that one member had to change altitutd timming to stop a simler problem,i think that is what it was.
