Cloned chips work well, but the Burn 2 is not able to program the clones (or fakes as Moates calls them). Many of the chips used in car electronics and car accessories are "clones".
I use a BX32P for programming chips. https://www.newark.com/batronix/bx32...-ii/dp/53M6869
Cheap chips or clones require expensive programmers.
The BX32P is MASSIVE overkill for a single project.

FYI I also have a MiniPro TL866CS programmer (which I like & comes with many adapters)...upgraded the drivers for Windows 10. Same result - indicates chip is erased...but then shows that it's not blank.
Have you called and talked with Moates tech support??
Had the same exact problem, and they fixed it in a few minutes. Since he was remoted into my laptop, I did not see everything he did, but it had something to do with the version of firmware in my tool.
Call Tech Support??
