Is there any time saving by resetting the PCM by disconnecting the battery after changing tune or will the 8051 relearn just as quick either way?

there is no point disconnecting the battery. at the end of the write procedure, the ECM is rebooted.

another thing, if you are just talking about 'relearning' with regard to fuel trims, any time you like you can click 'reset blm' in the 'control' section of eehack and its long term trim memory will be reset to the keepalive value (probably 128)
