    Initial spark advance vs spark reference angle

    Can someone please explain the differences between tge initial spark advance and the spark reference angle?
    I'm trying to get a 3.4/3400 hybrid running using bawx and the "complete$88" xdf from this site

    The first is the physical setting at the distributor without the ECM controlling the timing and the second is the advance the ECM thinks has been set at the distributor. They are normally set the same.
