Ideas for 4 cylinder MPFI = Toyota 22RE with GM ECM?

The kid is rebuilding his rock crawler and starting with a carb extended cab truck, so no EFI wiring. Nightmare wiring to change a carb truck to EFI truck in these toyotas.

So I need some ideas on how to run the MPFI on the Toyota 22RE? There's room in cab for an ECM, but the underhood version would be the right choice for this off roader weather, get it whether... it's in the cab or underhood.

Not sure what the injectors are?

Ignition from distributor should be easy. Or should I be attempting a DIS?

TPS and IAC are going to be challenges? Have to see what is there and if maybe a GM TB could be machined in place?

Ideas? Vehicle to salvage harness and ECM from?

TBI might be easier if he has the "old" cylinder head. New head you can use an MPFI intake. Two mpfi intakes, early and late. Later MPFI intake is better for flow and power and bolts up. Look at my page to see how I added IAC with adapter plate and Jeep 4.0 IAC motor. Yota distributor pickup should be able to trigger GM EST module. Yota turbo injectors are low impy but they put a resistor inline. The injectors from the later pfi intake are high impedance, maybe 12-14 lbs/hr?? I believe I have a set left over from my truck if needed. 7727 is best underhood ecm. Look in W body cars (Lumina & etc) to find ecm and nice, long wiring harness with plenty of extra wiring. You might be able to find a version of $58 that's set up for a 1 BAR MAP. A man named Robin Handley spent a bunch of time figuring out just what settings need to change to make it happen. http://www.furyworld.fsnet.co.uk/GMECM.html He might have posted a copy of a cal or discussed the settings on gmecm.

I'm thinking an external crank trigger for the 1228707 with DIS is an option. The '8708 can operate most any injector (maybe even just two 2.8 liter TBI injectors) and is underhood ECM. The original application for the '8708 was the 2.3 liter Quad 4, so the available code should be a good baseline to start with. The connectors from a 1227727 ECM will fit the '8708. The pic below is for an 8" diameter trigger wheel, but other diameters are just a few mouse clicks from happening.

Hmmm? Well that seems like a good parts car to start with and I think there's a couple at the JY... wonder where the crank trigger is?

    1228707 or 1228708 27C256 $8B 1989 Grand Am, Cutlass, Calais and Beretta Quad 4
    1228707 or 1228708 27C256 $A8 1990 Grand Am, Cutlass, Calais and Beretta Quad 4
    1228707 or 1228708 27C256 $6B 1990 Grand Am, Cutlass, Calais and Beretta Quad 4

Looks like $A8 and $8B we have and well defined, but don't seem to have a dissasembly for further work. Also have some wiring diagrams, cool that jumpers for injectors are right there, another plus is electric fan!

Moates G1 adapter work in this?

Preferable mask ID? Or is this something nAst1 works on?

Or are the 7727 W cars also DIS? Any four cylinder? Guess the cylinders could be changed and 4 cylinder DIS used?

The quad four code is a bit different from other GM code. Methinks it was designed by lotus. You may need to use the Q4 ignition module as well. The code may be looking for the additional 1X sensor the module creates. AMDD is "dual purpose" quad 4 code. It can be used in 8707 and 7749.

Crank trigger is in center of crank, part of casting. Sensor is in middle of block, front side. Hard to remove out here because they get rusted in place.

Seemed like a good start since it's already 4 cylinder MPFI, DIS, one car and all parts including harness?

Found some more on the 1x... just don't hook up and run $58...
