    1228746 to 1227747, can it be done and how

    My friend (sorry, finnish languge) started to build new "daily driver", i kept some pressure and got him buying a tbi donor instead of carbed, donor is 89´ 305 caprice


    and all the driveline from it goes to chevy 60´ kingswood...

    caprise dont have body only chassis, driveline, axles, wiring and 1228746 ECM, but but... in ecm, C16 pin from ecm is broken and wire from it has been drilled trought the ecm cover and soldered inside somewere, i have been trying to find other ecm use as replace but not so easy find from here. also my friend wants the underhood look much as possible old stock engine, so we take out airpump, ac, and all we just can, air filter will come from some correct era... he will take out the 6 rib belt and will change waterpump and fit V belts, hi said he wont like to install charcoal canister if wont be vital for the tbi to work... also we dont have dash so we dont have speed sensor...

    my question, can i just use 1227747 ecm with that caprice wiring, those ecm:s i have 3-4 spare, 7747 wont have mat but if i just cut those wires, do i have to change something else in wiring, i looked diagrams but not sure.

    i read that it would be better have vss sensor... but that is also something i dont know how to handle...

    The 1228746 computer connectors can be repined so you can use the 1227747 computer. Here is a link that describes how to remove and re-install the computer connector pins. http://www.dynamicefi.com/RePinHowTo.php

    You can just plug in the 7747 to 8746 wiring. Only thing that needs to be removed is IAT wiring, 7747 has no IAT.

    I HAD ONE OF THEM WAGGONS WHEN I WAS 17-18 WISH I HAD IT NOW, 409 WITH A AUTO TRANS MINE WAS RED AN WHITE.

    what to do for that connector, i think the pin from the ecm is inside it still, atleast it looks like it, is it possible to take out that one wire form the connector and does anybody sell new picns for that. or whole connector...

    If you've got 7747 trucks available over there in JY or a lot of S10 with other ECM, there's a lot of choices for getting new connectors and pins with wires for them.

    if there is a JY tbi, usually somebody wants all the wiring from it but... ill find , dont worry... just not now, this week weather will be arond -20c so..

    ok, guys, we need also fuel pump.. but what to use, external is the way to go because we use chevys OE fuel tank, but pump should be quiet, this wagon will be for cruising and travelling, we dont want the noise of a racecar, not even from the fuel system...

    walbro gls395 is the one i was thinking but...

    now we hae driven some test rns with this.. idles fine strats fine but poor performance in cruise speeds.

    i dont know what bin could be good to start with this 3057200r4 combo but i used amtu.

    when accelerating, it sounds always like timing is too much retarted, engine is "running heavy" and you can hear from the exhaust note its retard, we turned dist 10 deg. and its way better but not good. tunerpro shows mostly from 7 to 15 deg. spark advance on hwy...

    blms alter constanty, first it seemed those are mostly 120 to 128 but then all goes over 130 and then 118 and so on... first i assumed something in fuel system but then i found that in closed loop 02 sensor voltage crosscounts and goes between 120 to 900 constantly but goes lower than 0.1v sometimes..

    when speed goes over 50mph 02 voltage goes only between 56 to 65 and ecm is in open loop. then again when coming to lower speeds we get 02 voltage and closed loop, still not so much power there either.

    no fault codes, no knocks, over 14v voltage, wondering if something done wrong in my wiring that i cannot see myself

    you might load your bin and data log an some one on here might see a problem in the bin file.

    i found the problem today, our brand new denso o2 sensor from rockauto was somehow bad, it kept showing maximum 235mv and somehow messing things even in open loop, we took and changed old sensor back and everything works like new :)

    Keep an eye on everything for awhile! It sounds more like a contaminated O2 sensor then a bad one. There's silicone sealers etc... that are not O2 sensor safe and even if used on say a valve cover can get enough of the fumes to ruin a O2 sensor! Or things like a head gasket leaking a little anti freeze etc...

    Hope it was just a bad O2 sensor though...

    a bit strage that we didnt get any fault code from it, just too low voltage

    not so much of a coolant, we still have plain water in cooling system because if something leaks and for flushing the system and changeing water daily.

    no silicone sealer in this engine, just felpro gaskets, owner is going with the car to world biggest meeting, power meet in sweden next week so its better to work.
