Talking Newbie here getting ready to use tunerpor RT for the first time

hey guys obviously you know my name from my tag name. Anyways I am just getting into tunerpro for diagnostics on my truck. I am hoping to find what is making my truck miss warmed up at idle and to understand why my truck is running rich at start up to the point where you can hear it firing through the exhaust.
If anyone here is reading this, I am curious as how to setup your dash. Trying to understand the location to put each gauge at is been quite a hassle for me. I know it doesn't help having a smaller computer to make my gauges crunch up against each other so I hope someone may be able to shed some light on my situation. Other than that here I am trying my best to use Tunerpro. I hope it works.

oh also I notice some guys have a module that goes between the aldl cable and usb to the computer? Just curious if I will need that to be able to watch what my engine live to be able to diagnose it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and good luck to you guys out there!

    93 GMC C1500 5.7 4L60E.
I have found the bin file and .adx and .hxd files that I will be required to use.
Oh I also finally figured out how the dash works finally. I now can see whats going on now.
I bought my cable from OBD Diagnostics, Inc. if that makes a difference as well.

First thing I always check on a TBI engine that's over fueling is the coolant temp sensor (CTS). Make sure key on engine off (KOEO) with the engine cold that the value of the CTS and the ambient air temp are nearly the same.

I appreciate the input Brian. Anything will help me understand my motor just alittle more. Its a high mileage engine (318K). It seems to be still running great now and it would make me happy to help the idle. You wouldn't happen to know what I would need to look at when it comes to my miss at idle when its warmed up would you? I figure I would need to watch the spark advance to see if I have any abnormalities with it. I almost begin to suspect my distributor is what will need to be replaced due 2 the rust on the wheel below the rotor

With that many miles there are more than a few suspects. In my experience the old rusty (broken magnets) reluctor wheel in the distributor only causes issues under heavy load. Work on getting TunerPro connected and post a log so we can look at the data.

All you need is TunerProRT and the ALDL cable.

managed to log my engine and already noticed a few things such as the spark advance spiking up as soon as the engine misses and as soon as I hit the throttle, the spark advance will drop down real quick and then come back up.

This is actually my second datalog but, i think it had more information as to whats going on compared to the first one.

I would love to understand as to what parameters I should be in for a stable, no issues engine.

Oh by the way, I have also done a few other checks as well
    fuel pressure 13psi
vacuum: 20-21" in park & 18-19" in drive
compression: 170-180 psi after 5 to 7 seconds of cranking.
