Performance Switch State is in EEHack, you just have to adjust the visibility slider on the right side in order to make it visible. ;)

everything in the factory datastream should be in eehack... if not please let me know and we can add it. there's so much stuff that I had to add that slider otherwise new tuners would be overwhelmed.
Just checked again and if I set View Filter to Hacker there are two things happening when I press Perf mode button:
1. Performance mode button pressed flag will set to Off momentarily while I am pressing the button, as soon a I release it it goes back to ON.
2. Unused byte 42 flag will toggle between OFF and ON every time I press the button.
Yes, sounds like you got it!
Did some digging and was just going to do a test and see if "Unused Byte 42" was it.

The button is momentary switch. Press once and it will activate, press once more and it will deactivate. So all looks good.
You can wire a led to pin a15[red].
You need a switched b+ to led through some resistor and than to pin a15. The pcm grounds the signal when performance mode is active.
Look through the performance tables. If they are not set as expected you might not feel any difference.
Yup, I have a button with LED wired just like you describe and it lights up properly.
