7747 to 7427 swap knock sensor sanity check

    Vehicle is a 1987 1 ton truck (R30) with a 454.

From the factory the vehicle does not have an ESC or a knock sensor.

Here is the sanity check - if I add a knock sensor, the circuit would be pin B7 to the knock sensor. Looks like there is only a single wire to the sensor so no ground to worry about.

Am I on the right track?

    Thanks

B7 is what was used on the '7747 which in your case may not exist in your harness. If it's there, repinned to B15 on the '7427. Be advised the PCM is looking for a 4k ohm sensor and not a 100k ohm accompanied with a ESC module.

Wiring diagrams in this thread post #7 http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...Information-OE

According to the schematics in the link above, I agree with B15 using a 1994 - 95 7.4 liter knock sensor, (as mention already 3.96K ohms ~ 4.00K ohms)

OK, that is why I wanted the sanity check.

    From the first post -
    B7--------(3*)-------BLK---------------Knock Sensor *** Not used on 87 GMC W/454***

    Then in the notes -
(3*)= A.) Wire like 1995 P30 Step Van, ESC Module output to B7
(3*)= B.) Wire like 1995 C10 Truck, Bypass ESC (Blue to Brown) and useLate TBI/TPI 305/350 Knock sensor

Ahh - just checked the 7427 schematic again and it also shows B15.

Should we edit that first post in the swap thread so that note 3 shows B15 instead of B7?

The original post was basically a copy / paste from thirdgen.org with notes added. Much as been learned since the original thirdgen.org post, including the knock sensor options. Some conversions would like to reuse the 1227747 knock sensor and ESC module and some conversions are OK with replacing the knock sensor and wiring modifications.

Edit pending for the first gearhead-efi post.
