Decided to start a new thread as the old title was irrelevant as I now am using the 1227747 ECM and have all of the components, I am starting to pull out the unneeded wires and sensors and start building up the harness.
I know I read this last year when I first started this project but can't for the life of me find the info again. This is going on a 3.9L Ford flathead engine, 6.8:1 compression, 100HP stock except for the EFI system.
My question now is will the system run just fine without the ESC knock sensor and module which is normally found on the EGR bracket? I have the 5 pin ESC module but there is no place to mount the sensor on the block, and the flathead is not prone to pinging. I also think, correct me if I'm wrong, that the ECM still controls spark advance in conjunction with the 7 pin module in the distributor base, it just won't know to retard the timing if there is knock as there will be no knock sensor.
Do I need to tie the B7 knock signal wire hi/low, or just leave it disconnected, or connect the ESC but have no actual sensor?
Thanks for the help!
Cheers
